About Us
Ross and Janet have lived in Scotland since 1972. Both have Scottish forebears. Janet’s mother was born near Paisley where the family were farmers and blacksmiths. Janet’s great grandfather, a blacksmith in Eaglesham was the strongest man in Scotland, and is the subject of numerous public legends. Ross was brought up in Newcastle, and Janet in a village close to Wetherby. They met at a cricket match in the Yorkshire Dales. They have four daughters and five grandchildren.
Ross was a qualified town planner, landscape architect and tourism consultant, and until the year 2000 was the senior partner in the local and international practice he established. Janet qualified in catering and hotel management, but has recently taken up art. Her spare time is split between painting and riding her chestnut mare Jade. Other hobbies include visits to Scottish Opera, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, listening to the many national and international folk bands and personalities that stay at East Lochhead. They are also keen followers of the Scottish Rugby team Ross sits on a number of committees including the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park Consultative Committee, the Renfrewshire Access Forum, the Scottish Council for National Parks and the Association of Self-caterers. He is an active Rotarian and a past President of Gryffe Valley Rotary Club
